Photos and Congrats

Congrats to the girls and boys teams on another win, this time versus Ridley and Garnet Valley. Special congratulations to our seniors. You. Are. Awesome. Also, photos from League Race #1 can now be found on the Photos page. Go Fords. 

Reminders: Briarwood (Sat.), Rock&Roll 1/2 Marathon (Sun.), and Coopertown (Tues.)

First, we are running the Briarwood Invitational at Belmont Plateau on Saturday. The girls bus leaves at 9:15am, the boys bus leaves at 11:15am. Please be on time and prepared! Second, the 1/2 Marathon volunteering will be Sunday from 6am-12pm. Our water station is at the corner of Sweet Briar Road and MLK Drive at mile 11. Finally, our next league meet is at Coopertown on Tuesday, Sept. 19. As always we would appreciate volunteer help! Please reach out to Coach Green or Coach Clinton with questions or concerns. Sunday Run and Phoenixville Scrimmage Info

HXC Folks – we have had two hard workouts this week and I want to applaud everyone for working so hard. These kinds of workouts will get us ready for the season, ready to PR, ready to win. So thank you very much for your hard work.  Coach Clinton and I are so extremely proud of you already, and we haven’t even raced yet! 1) Speaking of races, you can find all the info on the Phoenixville Scrimmage HERE.  2) We will congregate as a team at HHS ON SUNDAY MORNING AT 9:00am for a Sunday long run led by Coach Green. Please join us!  We will have a few different groups (depending on training level and how you feel).

Practice Changes

HXC Community, please note practice changes: 1) On Monday, August 21, we will be meeting at COOPERTOWN ELEMENTARY. You will need to be dropped off there at 8:00am, then picked up after practice (approximately 10:30am).  On all other days next week, we will be meeting at HHS at 8:00am. 2) On our third and last week of preseason — Aug. 28-Sept. 1 — we will meet at HHS at 3:00pm in the afternoon on Monday – Thursday. On Friday (Sept. 1) of that week, we race the Road 29 Series XC Scrimmage meet. The bus will depart HHS at 9:30am, heading to Phoenixville. Thank you for your attention to these changes. Go Fords. Hello Parents! Just a friendly reminder: our HXC parent meeting is tonight at 7:00pm at HHS. Join us!

We’re One Week Out!

Haverford XC community – we are one week from the start of preseason and we are very excited. With that in mind, the coaches have a few reminders for student-athletes and parents: 1) On Monday, August 14, at 8:00am, at Haverford College, preseason will commence. Runners should arrive with all necessary paperwork, team dues, and proper running gear to train.  The first two weeks of preseason are mapped out HERE. 2) Our HXC Parent Meeting will be Wednesday, August 16, at 7:00pm, at HHS, in room 126. Please join us! We need your help and welcome your questions. 3) Those runners who have achieved our summer mileage goals will once again be awarded summer Dry Fit t-shirts. We will determine who gets a shirt from the online mileage logs, so make sure your mileage is up-to-date online. 4) We have course maps online for Coopertown (HERE), Great Valley (HERE), and Briarwood (HERE). 5) We will have two fund-raising car washes this season; on Saturday August 19, and Sunday, October 22. This is a team activity – please plan to attend. 6) Philadelphia Runner in Manayunk is having their annual “Spikefest” – from Wednesday Aug 30th thru Monday Sep 4th they will offer Haverford athletes 20% off all XC spikes. They also offer 50% off spikes with purchase of any regular priced running shoe or piece of apparel. All you need to do is mention that you run for Haverford. 7) In this last week of summer training, feel free to give yourself a little break – especially if you’re feeling tired, sore, dead-legged. Once we start fall training, we won’t stop until November. So this is a great opportunity to relax and recover — mentally and physically — and get ready for the season.
